Animate pet services was founded in 2016 by Lydia to fill a hole in the local market for a professional and reliable pet services company.

Driven by a love of animals, commitment to excellent customer service and a thirst for continued professional development, Animate has gone from strength to strength ever since!

We are based in Sutton, Cambridgeshire and our services cover Ely and the surrounding villages.

We’re proud that our clients can rely on us to care for their pets time and time again, to hear why they choose us take a look at our testimonials.

Meet the Team

Owner and manager of Animate Pet Services, Lydia grew up in an animal focused environment and has worked with dogs and horses in both Australia and the UK.

An advocate of responsible, lifelong pet ownership and a serial rescuer, Lydia’s animal family currently consists of Penny (cat) and Midge (dog), Wally and Jack (horses). You can find out more about her animals and their stories on our blog page.

Lydia’s interest in dog behaviour was sparked while volunteering as a foster carer for an Australian dog rescue charity. Working with canine behaviourists to rehabilitate the dogs gave her a whole new  understanding of dogs and how their minds work.

Since starting Animate Pet Services Lydia has walked, trained and cared for many dogs of all shapes and sizes and from all kinds of backgrounds. She’s dedicated to providing the best pet care for all of our valued customers and is constantly updating her knowledge and qualifications to further expand her knowledge.

Lydia is currently studying under The Institute of modern dog trainers (IMDT) and is an accredited Canine body language expert and licensed instructor for the Dog Training College.

Dog trainer Graham has been a valued member of the Animate team since the beginning of 2020.
Graham is one of our professional dog walkers and his knowledge of dog training, behaviour and body language is a real asset to our services.

Graham and his family are self-confessed ‘dog people’, currently having six dogs of their own and a love of canine agility, in which Graham has competed all over the UK and abroad (including Crufts, no less!)

Graham is an accredited instructor with both Canine Hoopers UK and Scentwork UK and is currently working towards his KCAI (Kennel club accredited instructor) qualification. On top of all this, Graham is also a trainer for Darwin dogs, an organisation who train assistance dogs for people with mental health issues.

Graham and his wife Gemma own Gemgray dog training, a kennel club listed agility training club based in Chatteris. With great facilities and agility training available for all ages and abilities, they’re definitely worth a visit!

Janet is one of our most popular pet sitters as she has lots of experience with animals and can offer our four legged clients her undivided attention (as well as lots of fuss and cuddles)!

Janet is passionate about animal welfare and rescue and is a self-confessed 'crazy cat lady'! Currently owning 5 cats, including two blind kittens that Janet rescued from Egypt to give them a better life here in the UK.

An all round lovely lady, Janet regularly raises money for animal charities; past fundraising challenges have included walking on hot coals and a sponsored walk along the Great Wall of China!

Janet's works as a self-employed Reiki practitioner and she finds that animals are very quickly comfortable in her company.

Janet is fully DBS checked and her pet sitting slots quickly get filled due to her popularity. So if you haven't organised a pet sitter for your holiday then get in touch quick!

Tam and her family moved over from South Africa in 2019 and Tam joined Animate as a professional dog walker in January 2020. Having had 15 years’ experience as a dog groomer Tam easily transferred her dog handling skills to dog walking and is enjoying being out and about in the fresh air, rather than the salon!

Animal lover Tam is the kindest person we know and is passionate about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. During her time in Cape Town Tam  microchipped over 500 animals at cost price in order to encourage the uptake of microchipping among low income households.

Tam is also actively involved in locating and rescuing lost and stray animals in her local area, regularly reuniting owners with their missing pets.

Tam’s other passions are pet photography, her own dog Tristan and canine nutrition. Having qualified as a pet nutritionist through Hills and Eukanuba Tam is always on hand to advise our clients on nutrition for their pets.
Tam’s kind personality means that all of our animal clients love her and our owners know that the needs and enjoyment of their pets will always be top of Tam’s priorities!
